We are having another Hayride!

Holiday Hay Ride - Lakeway Red Cross

The Second Annual Holiday Hay Ride benefitting the Lakeway Chapter of the American Red Cross will be held on November 19, starting at 1pm. It will be held at Fred Miller Park in Morristown.

We will have food, games, and of course the hay ride. There are no tickets just a donation for admission. As for vendors: We have home crafts, wood crafts, tupperware, homemade fudge, hand knitted scarves, and old-time photos.

Event proceeds benefit the Lakeway Chapter of the American Red Cross, to sustain its disaster relief program, and community education programs. The Lakeway Chapter has been part of this community for over 90 years, and any gift is used in your home county. We teach your children how to prepare for and respond to fires, how to swim, emergency first aid skills, and the importance of good hygiene. We help your neighbors who are the victims of house fires in the middle of the night. Your friends are our donors and volunteers.

American Red Cross recently received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator

Charity Navigator Four Star CharityWe're pleased to inform you that the American Red Cross recently received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest rating given. Charity Navigator is a watchdog organization that rates non-profits on their financial health, and accountability and transparency. The ratings are calculated based on criteria like demonstrating financial efficiency, accountability and accuracy; good governance, ethical best practices and commitment to donor rights.

This rating reflects everyone’s hard work in controlling costs, executing on our mission and acting ethically and transparently with our donors. In our view, this “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates the Red Cross from our peers and demonstrates to the public we are worthy of their trust. In fact, we believe it can help increase support from our contributors.

In his notification letter to President and CEO Gail McGovern, Ken Berger, President of Charity Navigator, said, “Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities, and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Approximately a quarter of the charities we evaluate have received our highest rating, indicating that the American Red Cross outperforms most other charities in America.”
